Post by Christian AdelbrechtHi there.
I have a little problem. My page is build using frames and makes no sense
without these.
Is there a posibility to click in a searchengine on a file and open the file
within the frame?
Thanks for your help!
Christian
There is a lot of prejudice among technies against frames who view them solely
as the tool of the unskilled webmaster. I'm not a fan of frames, but there's a
simple solution to your problem using JavaScript. It isn't a panacea, as there
are a small percentage of users who surf with JavaScript disabled, but it will
allow the vast majority of users who click on links to the internal pages of
your site to be re-routed to the site's main page AND have the desired page
loaded properly into the appropriate <frameset>. In all, its like making your
site behave like a more conventional site in the search engines. You'll find
information and an example of this technique on my site at:

And despite what you'll often hear, your site can do just fine in the search
engine rankings. You just need to make good use of the <noframes> section of
your <frameset> page, and make sure that it contains a paragraph or two of
keyword-rich text describing the content of your site, as well as plain HTML
links between the <frameset> page and the most important internal pages on your
site using appropriate keywords in the <a>nchor</a> text. This insures that the
link popularity strength stored in the <frameset> page is more directly
distributed to the internal pages of your site. Good luck!
